Survey

As part of the implementation of the international project EDUC-WIDE, under Work Package No. 1, “Open Science: Analysis and Recommendations,” one of the tasks is to analyze the awareness of researchers and academic staff in Ukrainian higher education institutions regarding the role of Open Science, its core principles, digital services and applications used in the research process, and specialized scientific information search engines.

The aim is to further promote the support of university scientific communities in actively contributing to the formation of the European Research Area (ERA) and integrating the values and practices of Open Science into all key university processes.

We invite academic and teaching staff, researchers, and doctoral candidates to participate in a survey on the use of Open Science principles in conducting scientific research.

Representatives of PNU worked at Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic)

During December 11-12, a working group led by the first vice-rector of the university, Valentyna Yakubiv, worked at Masaryk University (Brno, Czech Republic) within the EDUC project “Enhancing EDUC Capabilities for Inclusive ERA Development”. This project is implemented within the framework of the most prestigious grant program Horizon Europe.

Experts of the working group: Valentyna Yakubiv, Tetyana Hrynyshak and Volodymyra Boychuk presented the first results of analytical research on trends in changes in the national and institutional system of scientific research evaluation in Ukraine and at the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

Together with experts from partner universities within the EDUC Digital Universities Alliance, they exchanged experiences and worked on developing strategic priorities to improve the research evaluation system at all universities in the alliance: Masaryk University (Czech Republic) University of Potsdam (Germany) Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (Ukraine) University of Cagliari (Italy) Jaume I University in Castellón (Spain) University of Southeast Norway (Norway) University of Pécs (Hungary) University of Paris Nanterre (France) University of Rennes (France).

Integrating into the European Research Area, in 2024, Precarpathian National University joined the international research evaluation system CoARA (Coalition for the Advancement of Research Assessment).

During the meetings, key tasks for 2025 were discussed within the framework of the work package on improving the research evaluation system at universities.

The experience of collaborating with universities in the EDUC digital universities alliance provides important experience in developing our institutional research evaluation system.

Competition for the implementation of joint research projects

As part of the EDUC-WIDE project, which the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University is implementing together with Masaryk University (Czech Republic), University of Cagliari (Italy), Jaime I University of Castellón (Spain), University of Potsdam (Germany), University of Southern Norway (Norway), University of Pécs (Hungary), University of Paris Nanterre (France) and University of Rennes (France), a competition has been announced for the implementation of joint research projects (Seed Projects).

📌The aim of the competition is to select scientific projects that will contribute to increasing the level of cooperation both between universities of the EDUC alliance and with local research ecosystems. The main focus is on topics that have the potential to impact “green” technologies, digital transformation and achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The strategic research and development areas of the EDUC alliance are health and well-being throughout life, culture and heritage, equity, inequality and inclusion, mobility/smart cities, research related to the activities of the European Union, climate and resources, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, economics and business, materials science, biochemistry and molecular biology, behavioral/neurological research.

📌At this stage, scientists of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University need to familiarize themselves with the field of scientific interests of the research infrastructures of the EDUC-WIDE alliance universities by calling https://educ.openup.education/facilities/, https://educ.openup.education/projects/ and find potential partners.
The competition application involves the formation of a mini-consortium with the participation of at least two partner universities, and a mandatory condition must be met – one of the participants is Masaryk University, the University of Pécs or Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

🎯The budget of such a joint project is €25,000-75,000, duration is 12-18 months.
🎯Applications are accepted until January 27, 2025.
